Our community

The work and ministry of The Community Mission is dedicated to helping anyone in their time of need, regardless of color, race or creed. We provide wholistic services for the WHOLE person, realizing they need to discover or re-discover for themselves VALUES for their life.

Wholistic Services: Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, Spiritual. We administer these services in BOTH an outreach setting and in our center.

Our DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM(DTP) is designed to help Christians grow in God's love and grace through a structured and supportive program either on site or on an individualized basis. The goal is for believers to be able to develop their own ministry as stated in Matthew 28 and have each them be able to fulfill the commandment to "go and preach the Gospel and make disciples."

WHEN WE SUCCEED

We see a sense of... BELONGING, WORTH and COMPETENCE

The Community Mission

  LOVE HOMES PROJECT

Our Love Homes are donated homes and are the heart of our ministry. They house our staff and members that are dedicated to Christ, our ministry and their community. These homes are where weekly bible studies and events occur in an atmosphere where neighbors can gather freely and meet our members, pastors and deacons in their own environment. Look for our Logo in your neighborhood and be a part of studies or start one of your own.

Testimonies

"Thank you for helping me in my darkest days. The Community Mission has brought God to me and showed me how to pray and believe again." KB

"Being able to be a part of such a work of God through Pastor Bob and Pastor Mark and their ministries, made a trial in my life a great testimony. They are and always will be my family.

Thanks for everything you did for my family in our time of need. You guys are angels. We love you. " GS

" Christ calls us to serve and help those in need, utilizing the resources we have available to us. Hosting a family in need for 3 weeks was humbling as over 50 volunteers came together to help. It was a great way to be the hands and feet of Christ."

Pastor Mark Brooks, Bethesda E.C. Church, Reedsville, Pa

Our Story: A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out

The Community Mission was formed by concerned community leaders who saw far too few services available for those losing/lost their jobs and homes and in crisis. Schuylkill County was lacking job training facilities, daily food pantries, no shelters or Christian-based Recovery Programs. Today, The Community Mission is providing for, or planning to provide these services, in Schuylkill County communities.

Our Executive Board

These dedicated individuals make up The Community Mission Board of Directors. They come from many different organizations and fields of work in an effort to help the cause of The Community Mission. Boris Baxter, Pastor Sue Kennedy, Renata Alonge and Pastor Ed Kopach

How Can You Help?

Food Pantry/Helping Hands Outreach: Everyday, we offer our food and clothing pantry, offering perishable food items and clothing to those in need.

We need people sorting and bagging food for distribution or hosting a food drive. Our pantry is always in need of non-perishable items to be donated.

Help us meet their spiritual needs by talking and praying with those who come.

Help For Clients: We are always in need of mentors and tutors for our various prevention and outreach programs. Teachers are always needed to train clients in computers, budgeting, life skills, and job skill training etc. Child care is another area where we have a need to assist clients. We are looking to recruit retired school teachers, avid readers or anyone who wants to help the homeless children in our communities.

The Community Mission Office: Come to our office once a month to help address and stuff envelopes for our monthly newsletter that goes out to our supporters. We also need help with answering phones, data entry, and general office work.

Fund Raising Events:

These are held throughout the year. Various volunteer opportunities are available.

General volunteer work includes set up, registration, serving food and drinks, talking with attendees about The Community Mission and clean up.

Giving: There are three main ways to give into our programs.1. Make a tax deductible financial contribution to our programs, either a one time donation or commit to a monthly amount. 2. Include The Community Mission in your will, estate or life insurance.3. Give gently used furniture, clothing, appliances, homes, vehicles etc.

Donations

The Community Mission is committed to serving more men, women and children. In order to do this, we need your help! Please consider making a contribution to help us continue the mission to transform lives. All donations are tax-deductible, and will enable us to serve those that have lost their homes through the nine-month comprehensive structured program which enables the participants to return to self sufficiency and restore their dignity. These programs include transitional housing, food, clothing, professional counseling, life and job skills training, and job placement assistance. Through your generous support, we continue to offer the men, women and children with an opportunity to return to self sufficiency and restore their dignity.

To arrange for a personal tour of our facilities, meet our staff, or to learn more about how you can partner with us please contact Pastor Bob Alonge
